Robbery, assault cases registered in Kapurthala

The police have registered two separate criminal cases involving robbery and assault in Kapurthala. In the first incident, a case has been filed at Sultanpur Lodhi police station, based on the statement of Surjit Singh, a resident of Thatha Lohian Khas village.

According to the FIR, Surjit Singh was travelling from his village Chuhrpur towards Kabirpur on his motorcycle when two unidentified persons intercepted him near the Machhijowa bridge close to Sultanpur Lodhi. The assailants reportedly struck him on the head, leaving him bleeding and fled the scene after snatching his Samsung mobile phone and Rs 1,500 in cash and a wallet containing his Aadhaar card, PAN card and ATM card. The case has been registered under Sections 394 and 34 of the IPC pertaining to robbery and criminal acts committed in furtherance of common intention.

In a separate case, a complaint was filed by Sadiq, a resident of Kala Sanghia and currently residing in Batial village. He alleged that seven individuals assaulted him with sticks, rods and a baseball bat following a personal dispute. The assailants allegedly thrashed the complainant and snatched his mobile phone during the altercation. Following his statement, police registered a case against the accused under various sections of the BNS and IPC.
