Saila Khurd (Hoshiarpur), August 1
Three masked robbers entered Gupta Money Changer’s shop with the intention of looting it in Saila Khurd town on Hoshiarpur-Chandigarh highway in the afternoon today. The shop owner got into a scuffle with them and pushed the robbers out after which they fled from the spot.
According to the information available, shop owner Gaurav Gupta alias Gauri was sitting at his money changer’s outlet. At around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, three masked robbers came on a motorcycle. One of them kept sitting outside on the motorcycle while two entered the money changer’s shop. As soon as they entered the shop, one of them pointed a pistol at Gaurav Gupta and the other started closing the shop door. Without showing any signs of panic, Gaurav Gupta got into a scuffle with the robbers. He even pinned down one of the robbers and shoved him outside. The robbers panicked and fled on the motorcycle parked outside. Gaurav Gupta tried to pull a robber off the bike but somehow all three managed to escape.
Mahilpur SHO Raman Kumar reached the spot with a police team and took stock of the incident. The police was busy collecting facts and scanning the CCTV footage to identify the robbers and catch them.
It is worth mentioning that four years ago also, a robbery had taken place at the same money changer’s shop. The robbers who had carried out that incident were traced and caught by the police.
