Parmjeet Kaur, the affected woman, said her husband has been unwell and unable to work, leaving her to support their three daughters on a meager pension of Rs 1,500 a month. The recent downpours have caused deep leaks and cracks in the roof, rendering the structure unsafe. The village sarpanch has even advised the family against staying inside the house, fearing it may collapse at any moment.
“We don’t have the money to repair the roof. My children have already suffered injuries from falling debris. Every night, we sleep in fear that the roof could come down on us,” Kaur told reporters.
The family has appealed to the local administration and Member of Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal to intervene and provide urgent financial assistance for the necessary repair work.
