Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal announced a reward of up to Rs 25,000 to individuals who will provide information on the use, sale or storage of synthetic nylon strings — commonly known as China dor.
DC Panchal highlighted that the manufacturing, sale, purchase, or storage of synthetic, nylon, or coated kite strings is strictly prohibited across Punjab. Violators of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, or its related provisions will face penalties ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15 lakh.
To report incidents, a toll-free helpline has been set up at 1800-180-2810, ensuring complete anonymity for informants. “The name of the person providing information will be kept confidential,” he said. — OC
