The police have registered two separate cases and booked four individuals for allegedly cheating victims of ₹63.18 lakh under the pretext of sending their family members abroad.
In the first case, Parminder Singh, a resident of Mohalla Tibba Sahib, filed a complaint with the SSP, alleging that travel agent Mohan Kakkar, along with his wife Poonam Kakkar and daughter Twinkle Kakkar, residents of Defence Colony, New Delhi, took ₹18.18 lakh from him to send his daughter Loveleen Kaur to England. However, after receiving the money, the accused neither arranged the travel, nor returned the amount. Following an investigation ordered by the SSP and conducted by the DSP (D), the Model Town police have registered a case against the three accused.
In the second case, Satish Kumar of Abdullapur reported to the Mukerian police that Ranjeet Singh, a resident of village Palaki in Mukerian, defrauded him of ₹45 lakh on the promise of sending his son Mandeep Singh to the US on a work permit. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
