Enraged over the arrest of former minister Bikram Singh Majithia, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) held a protest against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government here on Saturday.

Led by SAD (Urban) president Kulwant Singh Manan, protesters raised slogans against the government and burnt effigy of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Talking to the mediapersons, Manan said the Mann government in Punjab was working under the pressure of the Delhi AAP team and indulging in vendetta politics. The people of Punjab were being victimised by the government, he said. The manner in which the Akali leader and former minister Majithia was arrested from his house without any prior notice was highly condemnable, he said.

Manan demanded that the FIR registered against Bikram Singh Majithia should be quashed and he should be released immediately. A delegation of SAD leaders met administrative officials and handed over a memorandum addressed to the Punjab Governor in this connection.

The delegation included Ranjit Singh Kahlon, Iqbal Singh Dhindsa, Ranjit Singh Rana and other party workers.
