Three sambers died after a sudden fall into the Shah Canal. An employee of Power House No 3 stationed at the gates of the Power House of Mukerian Hydel Project informed guard Surjit Singh of the Wildlife Department over phone about the incident and said the carcasses of three sambers have floated to the Power House’s gates No 3 and were floating in the canal.
After getting information, Surjit Singh of Wildlife Department, informed the higher officials of the department, who reached there, along with forest guard Vinod Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Parminder Singh and Ajay Kumar and pulled out the carcasses of the animals.
The autopsy of the sambers was conducted by Dr Sukhjinder Singh of Animal Hospital, Hajipur. The carcasses of the sambers were buried along the bank of the canal. — OC
