Samridhi, Jaismeen to clash in women’s badminton final

Shuttlers from across Jalandhar participated in the quarterfinal and semi-final matches of 35 events organised by the District Badminton Association at Raizada Hansraj Stadium here on Saturday.

While final rounds in some events of the District Badminton Championship were held today, the rest will be played on Sunday. The chief guest of the day was Sumit Sharma, North India Head, Li-Ning. In women’s semi-finals, Samridhi Bhardwaj defeated Simran Gilhotra 21-19, 21-6. In the second match, Jaismeen Malhi defeated Ritika Sharma 21-5, 21-6.

In boys’ single Under-19, Divyam Sachdeva defeated Geetansh Sharma 22-20, 21-17. In girls’ singles U-19, Samridhi Bhardwaj defeated Sainia 21-10, 21-13 and Simran Gilhotra defeated Akshita Sharma 21-11, 21-10.

In girls’ doubles U-17, Janya Kochhar and Taniksha Chouhan defeated Reet Soi and Rehmat Kaur Gandhi 21-8, 21-12 and Manya Ratti and Sania defeated Shivali Sharma and Simarpreet Kaur 21-15, 25-23. In boys’ U-17, Viren Seth defeated Smarth Bhardwaj 21-13, 21-17. In girls’ singles U-17, Simarpreet Kaur defeated Loveleen Sharma 22-20, 21-14.

In boys’ singles U-15, Viren Seth defeated Ayaan Jain 21-7, 21-5. Zorawar Singh defeated Manthan Dogra 21-9, 21-8.

In girls’ singles U-15, Inayat Gulati defeated Shivali Sharma 21-13, 21-13. Saanvi Ralhan defeated Manya Ratti 21-9, 21-12.

In boys’ singles U-13 semi-finals, Dipansh Kundra defeated Ansh Sharma 21-5, 21-2. Zorawar Singh Lubana defeated Ishaan Sharma 21-17, 21-17. In girls’ singles U-13, Inayat Gulati defeated Suvreen Kaur 21-9, 21-8. Manseerat Kaur defeated Einaaz Jain 21-8, 21-3.

In boys’ doubles U-13, Dipansh Kundra and Viaan Jain defeated Ishaan Sachdeva and Rivaan Sehgal 21-6, 21-4. In girls’ doubles U-11 final, Aaina Chopra and Varanya Soni defeated Hargun Kaur and Tanvi Bansal 23-21, 21-17.— TNS
