Jalandhar, March 4
Corridors strewn with garbage, broken door of washroom, stagnant water and foul smell everywhere. This is the condition of the hostel of the city government sports school, which is an abode to budding players.
In the absence of sweepers and warden at the hostel, it has become difficult for the authorities to look after the situation. The hostel has not been cleaned for days. The washrooms are dirty and filthy, some walls are also mucky and even the corridors are not clean.
Sources said at times, students stay in their rooms and skip classes in the absence of warden. “If there is a warden, the students would be more obedient and would listen to him. The principal has to go to the hostel to check and ask the students to be punctual, but one a warden comes, this problem would get resolved,” one of the officials said.
The issue is in the notice of the district administration and some officials have visited the facility to take stock of the situation.
District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh said a request for a warden and sweepers for the school has been sent to the higher authorities.
