RSS-affiliated Sarvhitkari Educational Society organised the 4th Sarvhitkari NRI Sammelan – 2020 at the Vidya Dhaam, the headquarters of the society at Guru Gobind Singh Avenue, here, today.
Dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the event saw participation of several NRIs of the region. A panel elucidated on works of the educational society and the message of the Gurus, which has been setting up schools across remote areas of the country to support the cause of education.
Vijay Nadda, state organising secretary, Vidya Bharti, said: “Education is a prerequisite for every child. Sarvhitkari society is doing its best to propagate education among young and using its all sources to educate the young.”
Shiv Kumar, All India Secretary, Vidya Bharati, who also oversees its NRI chapter, said: “Vidya Bharti has reached remote corners of the country and providing education to children in the remotest areas. We have schools at places like Mana village —on the way to Hemkunt Sahib—where the school serves as a centre of not just education but also enlightenment.”
Brahm Dutt Aggarwal, a member of the USA (NRI chapter) of Vidya Bharati, said NRIs had contributed in the progress of the state and Indian diaspora across various countries as a whole. “They serve as representatives of the Indian identity abroad and in the present times there is a need for a reassertion of the message of the Gurus and their sacrifice,” they added.
The message of Guru’s, including Guru Gobind Singh and Guru Nanak Dev, need to be remembered and propagated to uphold the rich legacy they built for posterity.
Also sending out a message of organic cultivation, Umendra Dutt, executive director, Kheti Virasat Mission, also spoke about the necessity of adopting an organic, holistic lifestyle.
Editor of the magazine ‘Balihari Kudrat’ – copies of the magazine were also disbursed on the occasion to spread the word on adopting methods of organic cultivation and farming.
Stalls of handicrafts, artifacts and products prepared by the students of Vidya Bharti schools were also put on display on the occasion.
