Key issues concerning the welfare and rights of Scheduled Castes in Punjab will be reviewed at the 26th meeting of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission on August 28 in Chandigarh. The meeting will be chaired by Jasvir Singh Garhi, Chairman of the Commission.
According to a spokesperson, this meeting is being convened after a five-year gap, with the last session held in 2019. The agenda includes evaluating action taken on pending cases and grievances related to Scheduled Castes across the state.
Letters have been sent to non-official members of the Commission, as well as senior government officials including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and others , inviting them to participate in the deliberations.
