To mark the National Energy Conservation Day, Pushpa Gujral Science City organised a science play competition with the theme “Powering sustainability: Every watt counts”. The event, held today, emphasised the importance of energy conservation and highlighted the role that every individual, industry and government plays in adopting sustainable energy practices. The theme stressed on how small efforts can collectively lead to significant changes, promoting the holistic development of energy conservation and climate change mitigation.

In the science play competition, more than 200 school students and teachers actively participated. The students showcased their creativity and understanding of sustainable energy solutions through innovative performances. The first prize in the competition was bagged by Alpine Public School, Kapurthala. Dayanand Model School, Jalandhar, secured the second prize and DAV Model High School, Kapurthala, got the third position.

Dr Munish Soin, Scientist-D, Science City, delivered an insightful address emphasising the importance of renewable energy. He highlighted the fact that solar energy has the potential to fill up to 20 per cent of the electricity gap in the country.
