Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori honoured renowned sculptor Basudeb Biswas for his valuable contribution in the promotion of art and culture in Jalandhar for the past several years and handed over a cheque for Rs 25,000 to him.

Lauding Biswas and his work, the DC said he was making invaluable contribution in promoting sculpture, pottery and clay modelling in the district. He also appreciated him for holding multi-dimensional sculpture workshop at Virsa Vihar, in which hundreds of youths participated. He said such efforts would go a long way in promoting art in the district.

Thori, who is also the chairman of the District Cultural and Literary Society, said the District Cultural and Literary Society was committed to promote arts and culture in the district and such workshops would be held regularly at Virsa Vihar.

He said all these prepared sculptures would be displayed at an exhibition to be held next month at Virsa Vihar. He said the dates of exhibition would be notified soon.
