The Central Government has launched Phase II of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to provide houses to Economically Weaker Section of society. Municipal Commissioner Amandeep Kaur said under the scheme, Rs 2.50 lakh would be given to eligible families to build a new house on their own land. Of this, Rs 1.50 lakh would be provided by the Centre and Rs 1 lakh by the state government. Eligible beneficiaries can apply either at the MC office or at pmavmis.gov.in.
