The tanks were dispatched from Nirmal Kutia, Sultanpur Lodhi, and Seechewal.
Sharing the information, MP Seechewal said the distribution of water tanks is part of a year-long series of events planned to commemorate 25 years of his dedicated service towards cleaning the sacred Kali Bein. Using Rs 7.5 crore from his MPLAD (Member of Parliament Local Area Development) fund, Seechewal has so far distributed 215 water tanks across rural Punjab.
Village sarpanches described the tanks as a permanent gift to their communities, stating that the initiative will help resolve water shortage issues and will be beneficial for plant irrigation and firefighting. They added that water scarcity during religious gatherings had been a persistent problem, which has now been addressed.
On the occasion, Seechewal also extended Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas greetings to the villagers, urging everyone to celebrate a “Green Diwali.” He further announced that another 50 water tanks would be distributed soon, giving priority to Dalit communities and flood-affected villages.
The villages that received the tanks include Ahli Kalan, Bahibal Bahadur, Sidhwa Dona, Sukhani, Kaul Talwandi, Khaira Dona, Jhall Bibri, Mustafabad, Tibba, Isharwal, Meva Singh Wala, Mahbalipur, Dabulian (Kapurthala), and Kasupur, Umarwala Billa, Manakpur, Bajwa Khurd, Mulewal Khahira, Mulewal Araiyan, Khanpur Rajputana, Talwandi Salem Samaipur, Pandori Khas, Bara Jodh Singh, and Isewal (Jalandhar).
A few days earlier, water tanks were also distributed to the villages of Jainpur, Haibatpur, Talwandi Chaudhrian, and Shahwala Andreesa in Kapurthala.
Among those present on the occasion were Surjit Singh Shanti, Vice Chairman Harjinder Singh, Panchayat Secretary Jaswinder Singh, along with several local panchs, sarpanches, and other prominent community members.
