Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has allocated over Rs 14.63 lakh from his discretionary funds to supply water tankers to four villages in Kapurthala. Each tanker, with a 5,000-litre capacity, is expected to significantly aid environmental conservation efforts and fulfill daily water requirements for the communities.

The villages benefiting from this initiative are Jainpur, Shahwala Andarisa, Haibatpur, and Talwandi Chaudhrian. Representatives from these gram panchayats expressed their gratitude, noting that the tankers will be invaluable not only for routine village functions but also for weddings in Dalit families. The tankers will help water plants around the villages and support various social gatherings.

Joginder Singh, Sarpanch of Shahwala Andarisa, remarked that despite having witnessed many political leaders, he had never seen anyone work with the seriousness and transparency demonstrated by Sant Seechewal. He added that Sant Seechewal remains humble and accessible, despite holding a high office.

Major Singh, Sarpanch of Jainpur, along with Balbir Singh, Sarpanch of Haibatpur, highlighted the villages’ pressing need for water tankers. They explained that during large-scale events, water shortages were a recurrent issue, and the plants and trees regularly planted often suffered from neglect due to lack of water. The new tankers will ensure these plants receive adequate care. Members of the gram panchayats and other notable village personalities were also present at the event.
