Seminar seeks to promote digital awareness among youth
The district administration, in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), organised an awareness seminar on the responsible use of the internet at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Kapurthala. The event was held under the theme, “Together for a Better Internet”, to mark Safer Internet Day and aimed to educate young students on cybersecurity and online fraud prevention.
Assistant Commissioner Kapil Jindal, who was the chief guest, addressed the students, emphasising the risks associated with the digital world. He highlighted the growing concerns over online fraud, phishing calls and deceptive messages that can lead to financial and personal security threats. Jindal assured that the district administration, along with NIC, is committed to raising awareness and educating citizens about safe internet practices.
Speaking at the event, District Informatics Officer Sahil Khattri stressed the importance of cyber awareness, particularly among youth, women and children.
The event was attended by several key officials, including NIC representatives Sunil Bajaj, Jagdeep Singh Jammu, Rajbir Singh, Kanchandeep Negi and Sandeep Singh. The academic leadership of Lyallpur Khalsa College, including Principal Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Prof Manjinder Singh Johal, Prof Amandeep Kaur Cheema, and Computer Science Department Head Prof Damanjeet Kaur, also participated in the initiative.
