The President of the Karate India Organisation, Shihan Bharat Sharma, nominated five Indian referees for this global event: Shaheen Akhtar, Anup Ashok Dethe and Jitesh Nair (Maharashtra), Vijay Kumar Dugru (Hyderabad, Telangana) and Jagmohan Vij (Punjab). All five represented India with commitment and discipline.

Prior to the matches, Javier Escalante, Chairman of the WKF Referee Commission, conducted a comprehensive orientation session for all referees, covering the latest rule updates and officiating protocols.

Throughout the championship, Sensei Jagmohan Vij demonstrated high standards of officiating and professionalism, serving in multiple roles including kata judge, referee, judge and match supervisor. He was assigned to Tatami 4, working under the guidance of Chief Referee Mansour Al Sultan, Chairman of the Referee Commission of the Asian Karate Federation, along with Metyout Zitouni (Chairman, Referee Commission, African Karate Federation) and Appeal Jury members Ma Junting (China) and Tati Melua (Georgia).

Expressing his views after the event, Sensei Jagmohan Vij said, “It was a great honour to represent India at such a prestigious international platform. Every championship brings new learning and an opportunity to showcase the high standards of Indian karate officiating.”

It is significant to note that Jagmohan Vij is the only WKF-licensed referee from North and Central India, with an extensive track record of officiating at global karate events. His experience includes three Karate 1 Premier Leagues (Dubai, Fujairah and Cairo), three World Karate Championships (UAE, Turkey and Italy), the WKF Series A (Georgia) and the World Youth Leagues held in Cancun (Mexico) and Fujairah (UAE).

Shihan Bharat Sharma, President of Karate India Organisation, congratulated Vij, stating, “Jagmohan’s dedication and achievements are a source of pride for the Indian karate fraternity. His global presence motivates young referees and players to aim higher.”
