In this connection, she had bought a new laptop on Friday. Taking along the new laptop, she went to pay obeisance at Gurdwara Pul Pukhta Sahib on a motorcycle with another student, Pratham, a resident of Jaja. After paying obeisance at the gurdwara, she was returning when a speeding tractor-trailer coming back from Hola Mohalla celebrations in Sri Anandpur Sahib hit their bike near Shahbazpur village. Anjali Gill was seriously injured in the accident. She was rushed to a hospital in Jalandhar, but died on the way.

On the basis of the statement of Pratham, who was also injured in the accident, the police registered a case against the tractor-trailer driver, Santokh Singh, a resident of Gadrian village in Gurdaspur district. Anjali Gill was a national-level Wushu player. She also served as a coach at Tanda United Sports Club.
