Sewer cleaning staff shifted from my ward: Lakhotra
Councillor Tarsem Lakhotra, who quit AAP again after he was not given Deputy Mayor's post, reached the MC office today with a complaint. It was Mayor Vaneet Dhir's first introductory meeting with MC officials. Lakhotra, talking to The Tribune, alleged the labour that was involved in sewer cleaning was shifted to another ward while the labourers were already involved in the process of cleaning. "I think they have done this because I have left the party again and is now independent councillor," he said.
Lakhotra said he had talked to the XEN who assured him that the labour would return to his ward by tomorrow morning. "I'll see if they return or not," he said.
Lakhotra had quit the Congress to join the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the Jalandhar West bypoll for better prospects but was upset as his name appeared on the AAP first list from Ward no. 46 but his name was deleted in the subsequent list that came five hours later. The ticket was given to Rajneesh Bhagat instead.
So, he decided to fight the elections as an independent and won by a huge margin.
After he won the MC elections, he again joined AAP, but after he was not appointed as the Deputy Mayor, he quit again.
"I was told that I would be made deputy mayor, but it didn't happen and quit the party again," he said.
