SGPC member meets UK LoP Jeremy Corbyn
Jalandhar, December 24
SGPC member from Adampur Paramjit Singh Raipur met UK MP and Opposition Leader Jeremy Corbyn in British Parliament.
As an elected member of the SGPC, Raipur thanked Corbyn for his two major pledges in its party’s election manifesto — to issue a formal apology for the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre and to order an independent inquiry into the 1984 attack on the Golden Temple to establish the extent of British Government advice to the Indian authorities.
Raipur also invited Corbyn to visit Punjab, in particular the Golden Temple, so that he could be formally thanked for his efforts.
Raipur has been in the UK for the past couple of months to campaign for the re-election of his nephew Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, who was once again elected from Slough. He was joined by other family members and friends who had come from abroad to campaign. — TNS
