Shaan-e-Punjab Cricket Cup from Feb 23

The Shaan-e-Punjab Cricket Cup, an open T20 tournament, is set to take place from 23 February to 2 March at Burlton Park here. Featuring 16 teams from across the state, including district cricket associations, the event aims to showcase regional talent and promote a drug-free Punjab. The tournament would follow ICC rules for fair play and high standards. The winner would receive Rs 111,111, while the runner-up would earn Rs 55,555. Organisers emphasise the importance of sportsmanship through this initiative.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
