Shatabdi, Shan-e-Punjab not to enter Jalandhar till Oct 9
Owing to the ongoing construction of a shed atop railway track at Jalandhar Cantonment railway station, several trains passing through Jalandhar towards Amritsar have either been cancelled or short-terminated till October 9.
The most affected have been the passengers of Shatabdi Express and Shan-e-Punjab. Starting today, Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi was being short-terminated at Phagwara while Shan-e-Punjab had the last halt in Ludhiana. A shed is being set up across 200 m length of the track passing through Jalandhar Cantt railway station. Since the girders for the same are being laid, the power in the high-tension electricity lines atop the track has been shut down till October 9.
The trains that have been cancelled till October 9 include those shuttling between Amritsar-Nangal Dam, Ludhiana-Chheharta, Jalandhar city-Nakodar, Lohia Khas-Ludhiana. Amritsar-Kanpur Central train is being short-terminated at Ambala Cantt. The News Delhi-Lohian Khas train is being diverted from Ludhiana on Nakodar route.
The other diverted trains include Dr Ambedkar Nagar Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Bandra Terminal, Jamnagar-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra train, Hapa-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra train, Gandhidham-Mata Vaishno Devi Katra train, Jammu Tavi-Sealdah, Kochuveli-Amritsar, Ajmer-Amritsar, Amritsar to New Jalpaigudi and Amritsar-Jainagar Express. These trains will pass via Ludhiana-Phillaur-Nakodar-Jalandhar City route to bypass Jalandhar Cantt railway station.
