The assailant, allegedly a neighbouring shopkeeper’s son, attacked the victim with a sharp-edged weapon after a minor altercation.

The victim has been identified as Kamal Chawla, owner of “Kamal Kiryana Store.” He was rushed to the Phagwara Civil Hospital with serious injuries. According to Chawla, the incident took place when an unknown individual parked a scooter in front of his shop and went across the street to purchase goods from a sweet shop.

Chawla stated that he merely asked the person not to block his store front. A short while later, the son of the sweet shop owner allegedly stormed into his store in a fit of rage and assaulted him with a kirpan (a ceremonial sword), causing severe injuries.

The sudden and brutal attack left onlookers in shock. Local residents quickly intervened and transported Chawla to the hospital for medical treatment. He has filed a complaint, seeking justice and strict legal action against the accused.
