Short-term course on IPR

The IPR Cell along with the Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering and Education Centre of Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, started a five-day course on intellectual property rights. Large number of participants from various engineering institutes, universities, law institutes, advocates, and professionals joined the short-term course.
During the inaugural ceremony Dr LK Awasthi, director of the institute, welcomed the keynote speaker Dr Tshimanga Kongolo, head, WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) Academy of Professional Development Program, Geneva, Switzerland. Dr Kongolo motivated the participants to file IPR before publishing their research in conferences and journals. He also said that the protected intellectuality property increases the value of the nation.
In the afternoon session, Dr Naveen Andrew C, Deputy Controller of Patents and Designs, Patent Office, Chennai, discussed all issues related to patents. He also shared how quickly you can file patents and what is the value of patents at national and international level. Different eminent speakers from law organisations, academic Institutions, Deputy Controllers of New Delhi patent office and experienced scientists will deliver the lecture on various issues of IPR in the next couple of days.
