The police have cracked the controversial case of tearing a religious poster at Gol Chowk on March 12 evening with the arrest of six women. Those arrested were identified as Hema, Rani and Pammi, all residents of Pehchan Nagar, and Bimla, Meenu and Phoola Devi, all residents of Soondh Colony here. A case was registered against six accused under Sections 299 and 303(2) BNS in this regard.

Addressing a press conference here today, SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said the arrested accused had confessed to their crime and disclosed that they all were scrap collectors and removed religious poster to extract pipes which were to be sold later. The police recovered two pipes installed to display poster, the SP said.
