Deputy Commissioner and president of the Kapurthala Red Cross Society Amit Kumar Panchal has directed the Society to accelerate its welfare activities to ensure greater outreach and support for the needy.
Chairing the Executive Committee meeting of the Red Cross Society at the District Administrative Complex on Monday, Panchal emphasised the need for the organisation to work more diligently so that maximum beneficiaries can avail themselves of its services.
Highlighting the importance of skill development for underprivileged girls, he stressed the need to focus on vocational training programmes such as beauty parlour management, tailoring, embroidery, cooking and computer education. “These initiatives will empower girls to become self-reliant and start their own livelihood ventures,” he stated.
He further instructed that the Red Cross must ensure increased assistance for the education and healthcare needs of the underprivileged.
