Jalandhar: Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Wednesday announced that an Olympics level player would soon be appointed as the chief hockey coach to promote the game at the grassroots level. Sodhi made this revelation while meeting the office-bearers of the Surjit Hockey Society, Jalandhar, saying the state government was working hard for further honing the game of budding hockey players. Thus, decided to take the services of a renowned Olympian, who has made remarkable feats at global level. “Soon an Olympics level player would be seen imparting training to the hockey players of the state,” he categorically mentioned. He also lauded the achievements and efforts of the Surjit Hockey Stadium teaching game tactics to 14 to 19-year-old hockey players under the patronage of Surjit Hockey Society. He also announced to provide 36 seats (18 boys and 18 girls) day-scholar hockey wing to the academy for the year 2021-22 besides providing 200 hockey, 200 ball and two goalkeeper kits to the academy. Webinar on New Education Policy

Jalandhar: The NITI Aayog along with the Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM) organised a webinar on ‘Teacher’s role in National Education Policy (NEP) Implementation’, where Lovely Professional University (LPU) collaborated for its massive impact and projection. Vice Chancellor of Central University of Punjab (Bathinda) Prof R P Tiwari was a chief guest. Mukul Kanitkar was a keynote speaker. World Forest Day observed

Jalandhar: The DD Pant Botanical Society of post graduate department of botany at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya organised a plantation drive on the occasion of World Forest Day 2021. Saplings of mango, arjun, neem and amla were planted. Principal Prof Ajay Sareen stressed upon the need of conservation and saving floral diversity.
