The district police have claimed to arrest a member of the Saubi gang and recovered three pistols from him.
Addressing a press conference held at the Police Line here on Tuesday in this regard, SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Mukesh Kumar, DSP (Investigation) Sukhninder Singh and Inspector Gurpreet, in-charge of CIA staff, the police party had arrested accused Sahilpreet Singh, a resident of village Kila Barun, with 149 grams of heroin on May 7.
The SSP claimed that during investigation, it was found that accused Sahilpreet Singh was supplied heroin by Saurav Jindal alias Saubi, a resident of Kirti Nagar, Hoshiarpur, who lives in the US, through his associates Hemant and Neeraj Kumar alias Ranjha.
He said that on May 14, the police party of CIA staff had arrested the alleged accused Hemant, a resident of Abadpura, district Jalandhar, with a country-made pistol of .315 bore and one live round.
Now the accused Neeraj Kumar alias Ranjha, a resident of Hardokhanpur, presently residing at Banjar Bagh, Hoshiarpur, has been arrested with two pistols of .32 bore and one 9 mm Glock pistol.
The SSP claimed that during the investigation it was found that the alleged accused Hemant and Neeraj Kumar alias Ranjha had formed a gang at the behest of drug smuggler Saubi sitting abroad and were engaged in the business of supplying drugs and weapons in Hoshiarpur city for a long time with the intention of earning money. Cases have already been registered against accused Neeraj Kumar at Sadar police station.
