Hoshiarpur, March 9
Om Birla, Speaker, Lok Sabha, distributed prizes among 166 students of DAV Collegefor achieving distinction in different fields, during the annual function of the college on Sunday. He was the chief guest on the occasion.
Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Som Parkash, Bhartiya Janta Party vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna were also present.
Dr Anoop Kumar, president, DAV College managing committee and secretary DL Anand welcomed the guests.
The function commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the guests. College principal Dr Neerja Dhingra read out the annual report about the achievements of the college students in the field of academics, sports and co-curricular activities.
Birla congratulated the staff and the students of the college. He motivated the students to work hard to achieve better in life . He invited the students and staff to visit the Parliament House. Secretary DL Anand said it was a red-letter day in the 94-year-old history of the college that a dignitary of Birla’s stature visited the college as the chief guest. Students presented cultural items.
