Special football camp to keep children away from drugs
Summers are here and so are summer vacations. For young kids, there is an opportunity to learn football free of cost for 30 days. The idea behind the summer camp is to make children join sports at the earliest so that they stay away from drugs.
The seventh football training summer camp started today in Nawanshahr. The summer camp is being organised by the Youth Football Welfare Club for the last seven years and is dedicated to Chaar Sahibzade. No fees is being charged from the students and special, trained coaches have been enrolled for the summer camp.
The training is given from 6 am to 8 am in the morning. The camp is being held at JSFH Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Nawanshahr, with the support of Principal Daljit Singh Bolanji.
Sharing information in this regard, president of Youth Football Club, Nawanshahr, Karanjit Singh and Chairman of Daily Morning Football Club, Nawanshahr, Tarsem Lal said that the camp is organised every year in which Jasvir Jassi, a trained football coach, and senior players of Youth Football Club Nawanshahr, train the children.
“We want children to be motivated towards sports from the school time, this is how they can progress in their lives and contribute to society when they grow up. If we put them in sports now, then they can stay away from any drug,” the organisers said.
As per the information, the summer camp is organised every year from June 1 to June 30 with the support of sports enthusiasts, club members and NRIs.
The summer camp attracts kids from Nawanshahr and surrounding villages. Tarsem Lal shared, “We play football on a daily basis and often, the school-going children would meet us happily and tell us that they wanted to learn football. That was the time when we motivated them to join this summer camp. Only such camps can make the purpose of ‘War on Drugs’ meaningful.”
