Three persons were killed on Tuesday morning in a road accident near Mand on the Kapurthala-Jalandhar highway when a speeding bus moving on wrong side collided head-on with a small goods carrier. The impact of the crash was so severe that the smaller vehicle was completely mangled, leaving no chance of survival for its occupants.

The deceased were identified as Kapurthala-based vegetable traders Ishwar Lal and Mukesh, along with the driver Rakesh, all of whom hailed from Bihar. Sources said they were on their way to Jalandhar to purchase fruits and vegetables when the accident occurred.

Local residents and relatives of the victims rushed to the scene. Outraged by the incident, they blocked traffic on the Kapurthala-Jalandhar road, demanding strict action against the bus driver.

Police teams arrived promptly to manage the situation and attempted to pacify the protesters, assuring them of a thorough investigation. The bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination, while efforts are under way to trace the bus driver, who fled the spot following the crash.
