Special DGP, Law and Order, Arpit Shukla, held a meeting to assess the progress of the ongoing criminal investigations and evaluate the overall law and order situation across the Jalandhar Range.
The meeting aimed to enforce strict action against fraudulent travel agents, resolve the pendency of criminal cases and complaints, combat drug trafficking, address snatching incidents and threat calls and review the effectiveness of current security measures. The visit also sought to identify areas of improvement to ensure that the police force is well-equipped to handle emerging challenges.
Shukla laid stress on the need for immediate and decisive steps to be taken to identify and apprehend fraudulent travel agents involved in scamming individuals, ensuring that such activities are swiftly addressed to protect the public. He said such activities would be swiftly addressed to protect the public. He also announced the formation of a special investigation team to combat travel frauds in Punjab, with a zero-tolerance policy for those found guilty of defrauding innocent people.
He said efforts should be intensified to clear the backlog of unresolved criminal cases and complaints and ensuring timely investigations. He said all CPs/SSPs have also been instructed to keep a close watch on suspicious activities and individuals, drug trading.
Special DGP also directed CPs/SSPs to increase the police checkpoints in their respective jurisdictions and ensure the checking of a maximum number of vehicles at every naka, which will help in curtailing terrorist and criminal activities.
