Phagwara SP Gurmit Kaur Chahal said during inspection, the police discovered that the factory was engaged in unauthorised activities involving the use and storage of substandard coated urea in violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. A total of 95 bags of coated urea weighing 45 kg each, 135 empty bags, and 30 litres of loose urea were recovered from the factory premises.

The material, suspected to be used in the production and distribution of spurious fertilisers, was immediately seized. The police have named three individuals in connection with the case, including Manoj Figra of Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, Mahesh Lal of Haryana, and the owner of Shri Satyam Industry. All three are yet to be arrested. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act. Officials have confirmed that further investigation is underway. The authorities emphasised that the illegal sale of adulterated urea not only defrauds farmers, but also poses a serious risk to crop yield, and assured that strict action would continue against those indulging in such malpractices.
