SSP, ADC attend meet to review drug menace

Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh and Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Mahajan on Thursday chaired a district-level review meeting on ‘Prevention of Drug Abuse and Narcotics Trade’. The meeting aimed at reviewing the measures taken by law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to curb the menace of drugs.
The officials reviewed the situation and action taken with regard to directions passed in the last meeting by the members of Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) committee. They urged the members to wage a decisive war against drugs.
The officials also reviewed the progress and impact of anti-drugs awareness campaign in the district and asked the members of NCORD committee to keep vigil on vulnerable target groups and places, particularly around educational institutions to prevent spread of drugs and save the young generation from the menace.
The SSP and ADC also underscored the significance of awareness campaigns to sensitise the youth against the ill-effects of drugs by educating them. Officials from all departments concerned were present in the meeting.
