Under its ongoing Education Revolution campaign, the Punjab government has invested Rs 6 crore in upgrading government schools in the Phagwara assembly constituency.
The announcement was made by Harnoor Singh (Harji) Mann, Aam Aadmi Party state spokesperson and in-charge of the Phagwara constituency, during the launch of a new interlocking tile flooring project at the Government Primary School in Sunnra Rajputan village.
Harji Mann stated that the current project at Sunnra Rajputan School involves an expenditure of Rs 2 lakh for laying permanent flooring. He emphasised that the state government is committed to providing high-quality facilities in government schools comparable to private institutions. Several schools are being developed as “Schools of Eminence,” while teachers are being sent abroad for training in the latest educational techniques, aiming to provide students with standardised and high-quality learning experiences.
Highlighting the significance of these reforms, Mann noted that no previous government had undertaken such transformative steps in the education sector. He credited the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for improvements that have contributed to government school students achieving top merit positions in board examinations. Many schools have reported 100 per cent pass rates, a milestone celebrated as a major achievement by the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Local residents, including school staff and Panchayat members expressed gratitude for the initiative. They noted that prior to the flooring project, students and staff faced considerable difficulty, especially during the rainy season, due to waterlogging and muddy conditions. The new flooring is expected to significantly improve the school environment and daily operations.
The launch event was attended by community members including Pradeep Kale, Madan Lal, Neelam, Yadwinder Singh, Joginder Kumar, Sodhi Ram, Satish Kumar, Rajkumar, Dalwinder Singh, Surinder Singh and Amarjeet Singh, who collectively appreciated the state government’s focus on enhancing educational infrastructure.
The project reflects the Punjab government’s broader commitment to improving public education facilities, ensuring equitable access to quality education and fostering academic excellence across the state.
