State-level abacus competition
Jalandhar: Siraaj Singh of Class III, a student of Ivy World School, secured the second position at the state-level competition of Abacus, held at Lovely Professional University (LPU). Principal S Chauhan congratulated the Ivyian and his proud parents. She also appreciated and encouraged him to keep on participating in such competitions. The president of Vasal Educational Society, K K Vasal, vice-president RK Vasal, chairman SK Vasal, director Ena Vasal and CEO Raghav Vasal commended the efforts of Siraaj.
Flower and rangoli exhibition
Jalandhar: Lyallpur Khalsa College bagged the first position in Bhai Veer Singh flower, plants and rangoli exhibition on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and lifted the overall flower show championship marking the golden jubilee of the university. President, governing council, Balbir Kaur, joint secretary, Jaspal Singh Waraich and college principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra congratulated the team behind the efforts lead by Dr SS Bains. The principal informed that the college participated in 24 various events concerning flower varieties and rangoli.
Scholarship award ceremony
Jalandhar: The 46th annual function of Manav Sehyog Society for award of scholarships to the students of various colleges was organised at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. Vinesh Jain, secretary of the organisation, apprised the audience of the three dispensaries being run in the city and the services of mobile van dispensaries being rendered even in remote villages. He also threw light on literacy classes being run to educate and empower the impoverished section of the society and a vocational training centre providing computer stitching and beauty courses. On the start of new project ‘Jiyo Zindagi’ day centre for the senior citizens, prinicipal Dr Ajay Sareen in her speech gave an slogan for the society “Beti Bachao, Beti Padao, Beta Samjhao aur Bujurg Apnao.” She emphasised that the right guidance given to the young boys and the sense of responsibility towards the elders who are the pillars of the society can in a big way build a better nation. The slogan was highly appreciated by the organisers.
‘World Mountain Day’ celebrated
Jalandhar: Celebrating the ‘World Mountain, Day on Wednesday, the students of Eklavya School delivered a speech highlighting that the mountains are home to the 15 per cent of the world´s population and a quarter of the world’s land animals and plants. They provide freshwater for everyday life to half of humanity, said Gurekamjot and Saranya of primary classes. They said International Mountain Day is a chance to highlight that for rural youth, living in the mountains can be hard. An activity was conducted by the students of Class IV, in which they searched about the role of mountains. Collages were also made by the students. Students of pre-primary did colouring in the worksheets and primary kids made different sceneries of mountains. Dimple Malhotra (Administrator) narrated about the role, that mountains play in supporting billions up and downstream – by providing freshwater, clean energy, food and recreation.
Group song competition
Jalandhar: A group song competition was organised for the students of Classes VI and VII at Shiv Jyoti Public School. A total of 31 participants from Classes VI to VII mesmerised the audience with their performance. Samridhi House grabbed the first position. Kirti House remained second. The third position was bagged by Pragati House. Group of students were prepared by Rekha Joshi and Sunanda Sharma. The judgment was made by e judge Neeta Misra. The activity was coordinated by activity coordinator Ranju Sharma. Principal Neeru Nayyar appreciated the efforts of the participants.
Blood Donation Camp
Jalandhar: A blood donation camp was organised on the premises of Darshan Academy. School’s staff and the outsiders above 18 years participated donated blood at the camp. Ex-chairman of Gau Kimti Bhagat was also present with in the blood donors. A team of doctors did complete check-up of the donors before the blood donation.
Seminar on communication skills
Jalandhar: Tagore International Smart School organised a seminar on communication skills and personality development. The event was conducted by Lovely Professional University. Keshav Chander, along with Ashish and Rachna Bajaj shared a number of tips with students regarding the importance of having communication skills and developing personality traits. Various kinds of skills were introduced to the students having right body posture, body language, hand gestures, making eye contact as well as having smiling face while interacting with the people.TNS
