Students highlight social issues at dist-level competition

District-level role play and quiz competitions were held today at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Nehru Garden, under the supervision of District Education Officer Dr Gurinderjit Kaur.

On this occasion, Principal Gohrina said the winning teams of the school-level competitions, which were held in August, participated in the district-level competitions. Coordinator Harjit Kumar Bawa said 120 students of the district participated in the role play competition and 140 students participated in the quiz competition.

DEO Dr Gurinderjit Kaur appreciated the students for the role play presentations that were inspired by various sub-subjects under the NPEP (National Population Education Programme) and congratulated their guide teachers. The sub-subjects included healthcare, gender equality, physical and mental health, ill-effects of drugs and proper use of internet.

In the role play competition, Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Adarsh Nagar, secured the first position; Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Ladowali Road, won the second prize; and Government Senior Secondary School Alawalpur secured the third prize. In the quiz competition, the district’s School of Eminence, Model Town, secured the first prize; Government Senior Secondary School, Bolina, bagged the second prize; and Government High School, Basti Bawa Khel, won the third prize.

On this occasion, Deputy District Education Officer-cum-Nodal Officer Rajiv Joshi appreciated the efforts of the government and congratulated the students. Principal Gohrina, Coordinators Harjit Bawa and Hardarshan Singh, along with the judges, honoured the winners with medals and certificates. Principal Parminder Flora, Lecturers Kamaljit Singh, Harjit Singh, Jasmine, Ankush, Navjot, Anupreet and Rajesh Sharma were the judges on the occasion.
