Jalandhar: Students of Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women participated in a two-day district-level Youth Festival on February 9 and 10 organised by Youth Welfare Department. The students brought laurels to the college by bagging positions in every category that they participated in. The students participated in events such as fancy dress, phulkari, poster-making, best out of waste, collage making, folk song and sketching. Harpreet Kaur, Meenu and Supriya bagged the first position in the fancy dress, phulkari and poster making, respectively. Harmanjit Kaur and Loveleen Kaur bagged the second position in the best out of waste and collage making, respectively. Prabhjot Kaur and Kiranjit Kaur bagged the third position in folk song and sketching, respectively. Principal Dr Navjot congratulated the winners.
New HoD appointed
Principal of Lyallpur Khalsa College Dr Jaspal Singh and former Head of Department of Zoology Prof Jaswinder Kaur gave an appointment letter to Dr Gagandeep Kaur handing her over the responsibility as the head of the department and presented her a bouquet, wishing her good luck for the future. Dr Gagandeep Kaur had worked as the Convenor Grievances Redressal Cell and editor of the science section of the college magazine ‘Beas’ and held other executive positions. Vice-Principal Jasreen Kaur congratulated Prof Gagandeep Kaur.
Foundation Day celebrated
St Soldier Group of Institution celebrated its Foundation Day by providing free education, medical treatment to the elderly and financial help for girl child. A charity of Rs. 7 lakh was donated to institutions like the Blind School, Pingla Ghar, Leprosy Ashram, Disabled Ashram, Nari Niketan, Unique Home, Thalassemia (NGO), 13-13 Hatti etc. The function was organised near St. Soldier Campus Jalandhar-Amritsar bypass. Singer Teji Bajwa enthralled the staff members with his songs. Group Chairman Anil Chopra and Vice Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra congratulated everyone on the day.
Graduation Ceremony held
A graduation ceremony was held at Guru Amar Dass Public School, Model Town, for the Kindergarten students in its Giggles wing. Vice Principal Dr Sonika Singh welcomed the dignitaries and the parents of all the graduated students. To seek blessings of the Almighty, the programme commenced with a shabad. Students presented group songs, group dance and modelled. The students were presented with degree certificates and trophies were presented to the winners.
Students bidfarewell
The students of class XI of Swami Sant Dass Public School bid a vibrant and fun-filled farewell to the outgoing batch of Class XII. The students were enamoured by the presence of the alumni. The illustrious alumni were students who studied in the institution in different batches from its inception in 1986 and created a mark in their respective fields by staying in the country and serving it. Among them were dental surgeon Dr Samir Nayyar, academician at CT Institute, Sandeep Ranjan, Chemistry Guru M P Singh, businessman Gagandeep Singh, ex-scientist from DRDO Jaspreet Kaur, fashion designer Anjali Sidana with label Banno, advocate Mehul Khanna and fashion influencer Aarushi. Director Anju Mehta wished luck to the students for their upcoming board exams. The students of class XI enacted a parody on the life of students and melodious songs were presented by the students.
Maths Activity Day held
Maths Activity Day was celebrated in Eklavya School. The aim was to celebrate and foster scientific temperament among the students and encourage them in the field of mathematics. Students of the pre-primary wing participated in various maths activities such as paper-plate clock making and calendar. Chairperson JK Gupta and Director Seema Handa appreciated the efforts of the students.
