Students, residents and local organisations came together in a show of solidarity on Wednesday evening to condemn the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. The peaceful candlelight march and rally, held at Shivani Park in Model Town, sent out a clear and unified message against violence and division.

The protest was led by students and faculty of CT Group of Institutions, with significant participation from Kashmiri students who joined peers from across the region. The gathering also featured a symbolic Black Ribbon Campaign, where students wore black ribbons on their arms and shoulders to express mourning and resistance against terrorism.

Participants walked silently around the park, holding placards calling for peace, justice and humanity. The atmosphere was solemn but determined, with candles lit in memory of the victims of the attack.

The students were joined by members of the Model Town Market Association, led by Rajiv Kumar Duggal, who also condemned the attack. “We are heartbroken and enraged. This isn’t just about Kashmir—it’s about every Indian. Terrorism has no religion, no justification. We stand together, as one people, against such brutality,” Duggal said.

At the city’s bus stand, members of the local taxi union held a separate demonstration, raising slogans and holding placards demanding strong action against terrorism. A union leader said, “Such attacks are aimed at dividing our country along religious lines. We must stay united and raise our voices louder than ever against this hatred.”
