The three students arrested in Nakodar for writing pro-Khalistan slogans and putting up related posters have been sent to police remand for three days. The investigation has revealed a potential link to Jaskaran Singh, an alleged terrorist who had previously fled abroad using the illegal “dunki route”.
According to police sources, Jaskaran Singh not only escaped overseas but also tried to lure his friend, Sukhpal, with the same route and false promises of a better life. Sukhpal, along with two other accused, Kartik and Tejpal, is now under scrutiny for their involvement in writing pro-Khalistan slogans. All three are students at the same school and have been known to each other since childhood.
The trio reportedly shared dreams of settling abroad. Investigations indicate that they may have been influenced or guided by Jaskaran’s escape and his connections. Sukhpal was allegedly being groomed to join the escape route as well.
Police are currently analysing the bank accounts of the accused to determine the sources of funding and whether any suspicious transactions were made. Investigations have also found questionable activity in Sukhpal’s account, believed to be linked to the escape plan.
The mobile phones of all three accused have been seized and sent for forensic examination. Authorities aim to uncover who they were in contact with, what numbers were dialled, and whether any foreign connections were involved.
The case highlights the broader issue of radicalisation among youth and the exploitation of illegal migration routes. The police have stated that further inquiries are underway and more arrests could follow.
