Students showcase talent in dist-level science exhibition

The district-level science exhibition being hosted at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Patara, witnessed the scientific ingenuity of government school students from across the district. The exhibition which began on Thursday reached its second day today.

The exhibition was held on the directions of Director State Education Research and Training Council, Punjab, under the National Innovation Campaign. It was spearheaded in Jalandhar by District Education Officer (SC) National Awardee Dr Gurinderjit Kaur along with Deputy District Education Officer State Awardee Rajeev Joshi and Nodal Officer Sukhdev Lal Babbar.

On it concluding day today, the winning students of the senior category of 17 blocks presented their working models related to science. Block Nodal Officer Principal Jeevan Kumar said during the two-day event, students were given seven sub-topics related to science, in which mainly models based on food, health and hygiene, transport and communication, natural farming, disaster management, mathematical modelling, waste management and resource management were presented.

DEO Dr Gurinderjit Kaur participated as the chief guest during today’s competitions. She exhorted students to participate in such competitions, also appreciating the entire staff of Government Senior Secondary School Patara for their management. Principal Shashi Kumar praised the models made by the students.

Harjit Singh, Media In-charge, shared the results of today’s competitions. Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Ladhewali, got first place, School of Eminence, Adampur, stood second and Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Mand, got third place in food, health and hygiene. GSSS Sarinh was first, GSSS Basti Mithu second, GSSS Paara third in transport and communication. Government High School (GHS) Wariana stood first, followed by GHS Loharan Mankarai and GSSS Patara in natural agriculture. Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GGSSS), Adarsh Nagar was first, GGSSS Mustafapur stood second and GGSSS Phillaur was third in disaster management. In mathematical modelling, GSSS Nurpur was first, GSSS (boys) Goraya second, SoE Ladowali Road secured the third position. GSSS (boys) Jamsher Khas was first, GHS Apra second and GHS Kala Bahian third in waste management. GSSS Basti Danshmanda was first, GHS Daneval second and GHS Roorkee third in resource management. Winners were honoured with certificates and medals.
