Students’ trip to Wonderland
Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Collegiate Senior Secondary School organised a trip to Wonderland for all students of Class XI and XII. Over 100 students went to the trip with full zeal and enthusiasm. The trip was a relaxation for students in this scorching summer. Adding educational value to this fun trip, the teachers accompanying the students described the law of mathematics and physics behind the functioning of different kinds of rides especially the ones such as carousel and pendulum and also related their subjects to various aspects of the trip. The students enjoyed various entertaining activities in the water park and were excited to have various adventure rides, boating, and car riding and also showcased their dance skills in the disco studio of Wonderland. Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of the collegiate team for organising this educational and fun-filled trip for the students in which students get to learn various concepts in an interesting manner.
Ill-effects of drugs highlighted
International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed by MHR DAV Institute of Nursing at PIMS Hospital here. The annual theme for the day was “Share Drug Facts to Save Lives”. On the occasion, students of BSc Nursing (II), BSc (III) and GNM (II) participated in the event. Dr Himanshu and Dr Deepali were honoured with bouquets. The organiser of the event was Associate Prof Kawaljit Kaur and Shruti (MSc CI). Students observed the day through flash mob on types of drug, its routes of administration and also depicted its management through the same. The message delivered was how the ill-effect of drug addiction and parental negligence ruins the lives of youths. Poster-making was done by students regarding the ill-effects of drug abuse. Addict patients participated in slogan-writing in which they made slogans based upon their personal experiences. At last, Dr Himanshu motivated the youth on how to overcome drug abuse and to live their lives peacefully and happily. He also appreciated the work of students and encouraged them to regularly conduct such programmes at hospital.
Students shine in varsity exams
All students of Innocent Hearts College of Education achieved first divisions in the GNDU BEd Sem III examination (Dec-2021) result. More than 26 per cent students have attained distinctions. Shikha Sanan achieved the first position in the college with 80.57 per cent marks, Ankita Suri bagged the second position with 78.57 per cent marks, Komal Verma along with Harneet Kaur grabbed the third position with 78.28 per cent and Deeksha as well as Amanpreet Kaur attained the fourth position with 78 per cent. Shikha Sanan said: “I attribute my success to my hard-working friendly teachers and the Principal who have been very helpful. They all encouraged me to work hard and put in utmost efforts to perform well.” Ankita Suri said: “This would not have been feasible without constant emotional support from my parents. Teachers have always provided their able guidance and timely motivation which led to this academic achievement.” Members of the management, Executive Director (Colleges) Aradhana Bowry, Principal Dr Arjinder Singh and faculty members felicitated the students for achieving excellent results.
Tips on personality development
For all round development of students, one-day workshop on personality development was organised at DIPS College (co-educational) Dhilwan which was started by Prof Rohini Marwaha. Assistant Prof Subhad Rani gave tips for personality development of children during the seminar. She said personality development means development of intellectual, mental, physical, emotional and social skills, whose main objective is to meet the needs and challenges of daily life. Addressing the students, she said first of all it is very important to inculcate self-confidence. “When we have confidence in ourselves, we can face any difficulty. Along with this, our communication skills should be very good so that we can explain our point well. Before putting your point in front of anyone, you should think about your thoughts once. Along with this, students should also have the qualities of understanding the self-discipline, self control, goal setting, management and leadership,” said Rani. Prof Rohini told the students that before giving interview in any company, it should be kept in mind that the CV should be good. That’s why every student should know how to write a CV.
Award for Apeejay School
Adding another glorious feather in its cap, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, received an award in the category of “Outstanding Pedagogical Approach in Teaching and Learning” at the 11th edition of “The Education Summit” held at Chandigarh. Under the guidance of president Sushma Paul Berlia and principal Sangeeta Nistandra, the school has been making a mark in the field of education through its innovative approach towards teaching and learning methodologies. The school received a certificate of excellence and a plaque for the outstanding achievement. NN Nayyar, Senior Education Officer, Apeejay Education, New Delhi, along with the principal received the award.
