Summer camps engage children during school closure
As schools remain shut throughout June, children are making the most of this time by honing their talents through various activities.
Several schools, play way centres and coaching institutes for art, music, sports and dance are conducting two- to three-week summer camps across the city. Kids are having a gala time experiencing new, thrilling, creative and enjoyable activities.
At St Joseph’s Convent School, a summer camp has been underway since May 26. Students are learning art and craft, instrumental music, dance, and bhangra. The main focus is on sports activities such as basketball, football, karate, aerobics, table tennis, and chess. The camp will conclude on June 7, according to staff.
Pepo International Preschool, Mota S Nagar, launched a two-week summer camp on Monday for children aged 3 to 12 years. Special events like gift making for Father’s Day, a summer pool fiesta, and a grand finale gala are also planned.
A recent summer camp at Police DAV Public School for students from nursery to fifth grade offered a range of activities. On the first day, classes II and III enjoyed vertical painting, while other activities included crafts, dance, swimming games, aerobics, and yoga. Class II students made bedside organisers, class III created coasters, and class IV crafted file covers and candle stands. The children enthusiastically participated in dance splash and craft sessions, with splash being their favourite activity. They also learned table etiquette, including the use of a fork and knife, and enjoyed refreshments. The camp was organised under the supervision of Gargi Sharma.
Merry Berry Summer Camp is hosting activities such as yoga, dance, movie watching, finger painting, storytelling, gardening, pool parties, fun games, and fireless cooking. This camp runs from May 26 to June 15, two hours daily, for children aged 3 to 8 years, organised by a private centre.
Art lovers can develop their skills at a 10-day camp starting June 1 at Easelz Academy of Fine Arts, GTB Nagar, led by noted artist Manzil Zurff. Additionally, Studio Antara, a dance academy on Cantt Road, is offering coaching camps in kathak, art, and Bollywood dances.
