Surjit Hockey Society donates Rs 5 lakh to Punjab flood relief fund

In a noble gesture towards supporting flood-affected communities in Punjab, the Surjit Hockey Society has donated Rs 5 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Rangla Punjab Fund. The cheque was handed over to Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal by the Society’s CEO, Iqbal Singh Sandhu, at the DC’s office.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amaninder Kaur was also present on the occasion.

It is noteworthy that Dr Himanshu Aggarwal also serves as the President of the Surjit Hockey Society. During a recent meeting of the Society held to discuss preparations for the 42nd Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament, Dr Aggarwal had announced the decision to contribute to flood relief, considering the challenging situation caused by heavy floods across various parts of Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Aggarwal said the Punjab Government is working continuously to restore normalcy in the lives of those affected by the floods. He appreciated the efforts of social organisations and generous individuals who have come forward to support the cause.

He also emphasised that helping those in distress is a moral duty of every citizen and appealed to other social organisations and philanthropists to extend their support towards ongoing relief efforts.
