District Health Officer Dr Jatinder Bhatia stated during festivals, people consume a large quantity of soya chaap and other prepared foods. Chaap is a perishable item and if it is not stored at the correct temperature or prepared hygienically, it can pose health risk. When buying chaap, he advised, consumers should check its freshness, smell and colour and avoid storing it at room temperature for extended periods.

The Food Safety Team cautioned people to be mindful of food and drink choices during the festive season. They urged consumers to buy chaap, paneer and milk from licensed vendors. They stressed the importance of consuming fresh food and advised against eating stale street food.
