Swachhata Pakhwada begins



Jalandhar: “Cleanliness is next to godliness”. This slogan has become the throbbing statement for various activities at JalandharNIT to sensitise students, faculty and staff about the importance of cleanliness. Recognising the vital role of the technical institutes in spreading the Swachhata awareness and implementation across the country, Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar, commenced ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ which will go on till January 31. Swachhta pledge was administered by Director Prof Lalit Kumar Awasthi and delivered an inaugural message highlighting the importance of the cleanliness. Saplings, development and presentation of innovative technologies for waste recycling, energy conservation, competitions regarding swachhta — speech, poster making, slogan, organisation of cleanliness drives on the campus with participation of students, faculty and non faculty, competitions will be held.

Cricket tourney

Jalandhar: Students of Harbhajan Singh Institute of Cricket from Ivy World School under the aegis of Vasal Educational Society stole the show at the Greenfield Cricket Cup organised by Sidharth Cricket Academy, Hoshiarpur. The students exhibited their competence and bagged the first position in the competition. Principal of the school, Sanjeev Chauhan, congratulated the winners. KK Vasal, president of Vasal Education Society, Dr RK Vasal, Director, CEO Raghav Vasal, appreciated the boys to keep on with the winning streak and strive hard to achieve greater heights.

City student excels in AITA meet

Jalandhar: Kashvi Aggarwal, a student of Class IX of Mayor World School has bagged the second position in the U-16 girls category at the AITA Tournament held at Singha Sports Academy, Jalandhar that ws held from January 6 to 9. She exhibited endurance, strength and skill during the tournament. The vice-chairperson Neerza Mayor, director Sarita Madhok and deputy vice-principal Charu Trehan congratulated her.

Missionary Day celebrated

Jalandhar: Eklavya School celebrated Missionary Day. Educator Shahinaz Khatoon conducted essay writing competition for Class V to IX students. Chairman of the school JK Gupta said it’s important to teach the children that a missionary is a member of a religious group sent into an area to an area to promote their faith or perform ministries of service, such as education, literacy, social justice, health care and economic development. Director Seema Handa quoted that if we enable people to come out of poverty in India, we may be able to reduce the conflicts, discrimination and exploitation among the communities to a large extent. Principal Arwinder Kaur explained to the students that bringing people together we can eliminate poverty from across different traditions, denominations and religious faiths. The administer Dimple Malhotra said such kinds of days should be observed among youngsters. TNS
