Swift action by admn saves life of elderly farmer in flood-hit village

The district administration’s flood rescue teams displayed exceptional efficiency and commitment by saving the life of 78-year-old farmer Balwinder Singh in Mand Bhandu Kadaam village on Saturday morning.

The septuagenarian experienced uneasiness and chest pain amid flood conditions, prompting a swift response from the administration after a distress call was made around 7 am.

The rescue team quickly evacuated Balwinder Singh from the flood-affected area and transported him to a medical camp in Lakh Variya village via ambulance. After receiving primary treatment for high blood pressure and other symptoms, he was transferred to Sultanpur Lodhi Civil Hospital for further care. According to Civil Surgeon Dr Harpal Singh, the patient’s condition is now stable and steadily improving.

Gurdas Singh, the son of Balwinder Singh, expressed deep gratitude to the administration, saying, “The quick help provided by the rescue teams saved my father’s life. Our family is immensely thankful for their efforts.”

SDM Alka Kalia praised the administration’s prompt response, noting that an alert was issued immediately upon receiving the distress call, enabling swift action.

Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal lauded the rescue teams for their commendable work and reassured that the administration remains committed to providing all necessary support to residents during the ongoing crisis. He also mentioned that a disaster management unit has been established at Sultanpur Lodhi Civil Hospital to handle any medical emergencies.
