Teachers, institutions extend support to flood-affected families in Hoshiarpur

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the Education Department took an initiative to support flood-affected families, fulfilling its social responsibility with solidarity and compassion.

Teachers from Hoshiarpur Block One-A, One-B, and Blocks Two-A and Two-B collectively contributed Rs 1 lakh, which was handed over to SDM Gursimranjit Kaur for the Red Cross Relief Fund. The initiative was led by Deputy District Education Officer (Elementary) Amandeep Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion, Amandeep Sharma said that the role of teachers extends beyond academics, as they have always been at the forefront of societal responsibilities. He added that the contribution was made possible through the united efforts of the teaching community.

In another significant gesture, Quantum Papers Limited, Saila Khurd, donated Rs 5 lakh to the Red Cross Society to assist flood victims. Deputy Commissioner and District Red Cross Society President Ashika Jain appreciated the donation and said the funds would help provide essential supplies to the affected families. She urged citizens to contribute generously—financially or otherwise—towards relief efforts. Additionally, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain flagged off a consignment of relief material for flood-hit areas. She extended gratitude to Advocate Preetpal Singh Basi and his team for their involvement. Continuing the spirit of community service, Rotary Club Middle Town Hoshiarpur contributed Rs 15,500 along with essential medicines, clothing, and other items to the Young Khalsa Seva Samiti. The donation was made during a special program organised near Gurdwara Shri Kalgidhar Sahib, Roshan Ground.
