Democratic Teachers Front Punjab (DTF) has strongly criticised the Education Department for overloading teachers with multiple responsibilities simultaneously, without issuing any formal academic calendar.

State president Vikramdev Singh, Secretary Mahinder Kauriawali, Joint Secretary Mukesh Kumar, district president Sukhdev Dansiwal, General Secretary Inder Sukhdeep Singh Odhran and Finance Secretary Manjeet Singh Dasuya expressed concern over the growing confusion among teachers.

They highlighted that while the September term examinations were being conducted and sporting programmes at the primary schools were set to begin, the new School Management Committee (SMC) training sessions had also been scheduled on the same days.

Many teachers are already engaged in voter list revision work as BLOs (Booth Level Officers) for the Election Commission, making it diffucult for them to focus on any of these responsibilties.

DTF leaders Baljit Singh Mahimowal, Praveen Sherpur, Nand Ram and Ashni Kumar said that the government was not taking education seriously. Political interference in SMCs is increasing, and unnecessary changes in rules are being introduced, undermining the academic environment, they rued.

The organisation demanded that each academic session began with a clear academic and sports calendar and that teachers be assigned only one task at a time. This, they said, would reduce confusion and allow educators and students to focus on learning and development.
